Description: Provides dense shade to large areas. Bark is light ash brown and has scaly plates when mature. Acorns are covered with a warty, bowl-shaped cap that covers 1/4 of the fruit. Important food source for wildlife. Leaves are 4-7” long, with rounded, finger-like lobes. Lumber is valuable and its barrels are known for aging bourbons and whiskies.
